A total of 15.5 acres of water and over a 100 swims
Fennes Fishing is stocked with Bream, Tench, Rudd, Roach, Perch, Catfish and Carp over 30lb. For your convenience we have a on-site shop and take-away pop up shop, currently open Friday – Sunday.
Ash grounds lake is a well-established spring fed water comprising of 5.8 acres and a 1000+yrds of well tendered bank it’s an attractive 24-peg lake that is well stocked with common and mirror carp with some weighing in at 33+lbs.
With more than a 1000 yards of bank Ash grounds has several attractive islands within easy casting distance this lake also offers many sub surface features including gravel bars and an undulating bed with some deeper pockets with depths to 10ft, the margins are also home to a varied array of aquatic vegetation including Reed mace, Bull rushes and water lilies providing both cover and spawning sites.
This lake offers both open water and the opportunity to fish close to islands and features. Hobbs Croft covers 3.5 acres and has 20 pegs.
With a larger grass area that makes it ideal for visting families wanting to experience fishing. This lake holds the same species of fish as Ash Grounds,
For the pleasure and match angler this lake holds smaller Common & Mirror carp, roach, rudd, perch, bream, tench, F1’s and crucian carp.
Unlike some lakes that have been converted from farm reservoirs that can featureless the Fennes has made great strides in landscaping this water and providing features. The depths range from 8ft to 4ft with numerous sub surface features that consist of clear gravel patches, silt gulleys and large weed beds.
Again this lake holds the same species of fish as the other two lakes on the Fennes complex. For the pleasure and match angler this lake holds some large Common & Mirror carp, roach, rudd, perch, bream, tench, F1’s and crucian carp.
I am pleased to announce that ashgrounds will be open from 7pm tonight and Hobbs Croft from tomorrow morning.
Again, if you do not have carp care kit then please buy some from the shop. Without it you can’t fish.

Brilliant. Do we know if Steve is still doing breakfast and lunch orders at the weekend
Just to try and stop the amount of phone calls I’m getting about re opening.
I will check the ash and Hobbs tomorrow mid day and make an announcement on when The fishery will re open.
The announcement will be made on Facebook so please keep an eye out.
We will re open when I feel that the fish are going to be ok to be caught.

Ah i have only just seen the post saying that the hobbs and croft lake is currently closed, however i made an online booking last night for Saturday. Is this likely to be cancelled? I didn’t see anything on the website 😅.

Fish need at least 2 to 3 weeks rest especially the larger one which can easily go belly up after spawning
We may be shut for spawning on ashgrounds but the guys are doing loads of maintenance to ensure you have a great visit. Everything cut back and even taken out the floating reeds between 9 and 10 that have been plaguing fisherman this year.

Want to see a monster? while Steve’s been checking around ashgrounds he’s seen our lake record common a couple of times. Out last at 43lb, Steve believes it’s a lot bigger now and probably between 46 and the magical 50lb mark.
Could this be Fennes first ever 50?
So anyone who catches this fish, will win 48hours free on ashgrounds and 10kg of any dt baits boilies plus pellet and dna. Open to all anglers so when open, come and give it a go. So as spawning ends and they have had time to recover, all fisherman have a responsibity to take extra care when handling fish. There will be marks, scuffs and general damage to the fish, so you need to have The ability to treat these marks and return them to the water safely.
You ( don’t care if you have a mate with it) must have fish treatment with you to fish. There are many brands and I do not care which one you use and yes DT carpcare is sold in the shop Thursday to Sunday. This is not a situation where you can turn up and not have it and get away with it because we will be checking every time for the next month at least. Haven’t got it, you won’t be fishing as it’s as important as having a rod.
Dip your nets every time you arrive and my advice is dip them when you leave. ITS FREE so why wouldn’t you for the sake of 5 minutes and a chat with Steve. While waiting, use the toilet, grab a coffee, buy some bait!!!
We need you to help us keep our fish in amazing condition, want to do it and youll have a great experience, don’t want to and you won’t be staying.

Hobbes has now closed for week due to spawning. Hill and black remains open and will not close as the main spawn has gone and we let the fish rest. Cats and stunning carp coming out this weekend, just hope fisherman send pictures.

It’s with regret that the fish have started to spawn on ashgrounds and therefore the lake will shut at 7pm tonight. for those who have booked, please call Steve at the shop on 01376 780285. I can confirm that Hobbes still hasn’t gone, and if you want a day ticket then you can. Hill and black has already had a big spawn and do not expect to close that lake Again even if a few go.
Sorry for inconvenience but ash will be closed for a minimum of 5 days and then we will monitor to make decisions on re opening. While shut, lots of work will be happening on the lake.

New pb, new 40lb carp in ashgrounds for Steve. Caught this morning, this fish has smashed on weight since going in and is in perfect condition. Introduced 3 years ago, named whinny, and now yet another 40lb fish at fennes.
