Fennes Fishing is stocked with Bream, Tench, Rudd, Roach, Perch, Catfish and Carp over 30lb. For your convenience we have a on-site shop and take-away pop up shop, currently open Friday – Sunday.
Ash grounds lake is a well-established spring fed water comprising of 5.8 acres and a 1000+yrds of well tendered bank it’s an attractive 24-peg lake that is well stocked with common and mirror carp with some weighing in at 33+lbs.
With more than a 1000 yards of bank Ash grounds has several attractive islands within easy casting distance this lake also offers many sub surface features including gravel bars and an undulating bed with some deeper pockets with depths to 10ft, the margins are also home to a varied array of aquatic vegetation including Reed mace, Bull rushes and water lilies providing both cover and spawning sites.
This lake offers both open water and the opportunity to fish close to islands and features. Hobbs Croft covers 3.5 acres and has 20 pegs.
With a larger grass area that makes it ideal for visting families wanting to experience fishing. This lake holds the same species of fish as Ash Grounds,
For the pleasure and match angler this lake holds smaller Common & Mirror carp, roach, rudd, perch, bream, tench, F1’s and crucian carp.
Unlike some lakes that have been converted from farm reservoirs that can featureless the Fennes has made great strides in landscaping this water and providing features. The depths range from 8ft to 4ft with numerous sub surface features that consist of clear gravel patches, silt gulleys and large weed beds.
Again this lake holds the same species of fish as the other two lakes on the Fennes complex. For the pleasure and match angler this lake holds some large Common & Mirror carp, roach, rudd, perch, bream, tench, F1’s and crucian carp.
To all, at present there is no signs of spawning on any lake at fennes, however with water temps going up now, I am not confident that this will be the case for long. Will it last till the weekend???? I honestly can’t tell you. However, so that everyone is 100% aware of my policy to spawning fish…..the moment it happens, fishing stops immediately. For those in the lake a refund or change of date will be available and for those booked on but fish spawning, unfortunately again, it is a refund or reappoint. This is fish safety and with owning stunning fish comes a responsibility not to stress them out by catching them on this massively important event for them. If you are not happy with this and have booked on, please ring Lloyd on 01376 573999 and we will cancel and refund without question.

So a new 34.8lb mirror at fennes caught on peg 17. Amazing fish and the fisherman just had his first child, and has asked if we can call it Winnie. So firstly congratulations on the birth of your child and secondly congratulations on this magnificent fish now called ‘Winnie’.

Someone asked me today why we stock DT Bait Developments at Fennes and not sticky or mainline…..it’s simple, just look at the fish below and only some of the amazing carp caught on this bait. However, that’s not the reason. Dt baits uses the best quality ingredients, probably one of the best artificial baits for fish care and health, dissolves in the water unlike squidgy boilies packed with cheap preservative and because it simply catches great fish across the UK, France, Denmark and even Canada and the USA. Pick up your dt baits at the on-site shop and stop putting cheap, nasty and potentially damaging baits in the lakes. It just makes sense.

Agree mate, these small company’s just add bulkers, to make it as cheap as possible for them to make.
Would you be willing to help. I am planning a dementia day at Hobbs Croft in august. This day will be for upto 40 people that have dementia and their carers. I need volunteers to be on hand to help these people to set up, to put on bait if needed and help them fish. If you are willing to help, you will also need to go through a first aid course and dementia training for one day before hand and this will be free of charge for you. I will fund a barbecue for volunteers and will be on hand to help as well on the day. If you know anyone who has dementia, and would like to come, please pm me as will probably do morning and afternoon sessions so can have upto 40 people. This event is free!! I will fund the lake, supply some fishing gear and look for some sponsors for prizes. Please help if you can and will release dates soon. Let’s do this as a community!!
